The King is one of my favorite pieces.

Blossom of Gratitude
This is a conceptual and experimental piece I created. It is a mixed media piece on canvas, with acrylic paint, papier-mache, sulphite board, glue, plastic and aerosol paint. The world and society have made all the necessary changes, humans have become the true custodians of earth. Society has begun to function on a higher level and the triple bottom line is the truest measure of success. Environments and habitats are growing and thriving. Food shortages are a thing of the past, animals that were nearing extinction have been protected and programmes have been put in place to save their species. Humans have managed to stabilize the climate and reverse some…

Final Decomposition
This is a conceptual and experimental piece I created. It is a mixed media piece on canvas, with acrylic paint, papier-mache, glue, plastic and aerosol paint. The world has reached its ultimate point. Climate change has grown so severe that water and food supplies are short, global development has long been missing, cities and infrastructure are no longer functioning. Few natural animals and plants remain as their habitats have long been uninhabitable. Pollution is thick in the skies and land. Social systems have been disrupted as society is only focused on obtaining the scant few resources still remaining. The earth has reached it finality and explodes, the crust and upper…

Relight Art Africa
When I started to put my art out into the world I went under the pseudonym Pisces Painter. I was inspired by my two little buddies in my studio. They used to keep me company and provide me with inspiration. They were my two male Bettas also known as Siamese Fighters. They are such beautiful fish it is impossible not to be mesmerized by their grace. However Bettas only live so long I still have a male betta in my studio but my inspiration has grown beyond that now. I have had a spiritual awakening and found that new age philosophy no longer aligns with my beliefs and who I…

Visiobibliophobia
Visiobibliophobia – the fear of posting on social media. It should probably include posting on the internet in general. When I created the original painting I was in love with watercolors and going through quite an intense moment in my life. The chaos had struck, I took my painting with me and continued to work on it through all the confusion. I lost touch with most things and after a period of prolonged isolation I began to rebuild and start again. I learnt that it is possible to recover and come back stronger and wiser. During that period I developed visiobibliophobia and all but stopped posting on all forms of…

Labello Competition
Labello the lip gloss manufacturing company ran a competition. It was to design the packaging for two of their products; Strawberry Shine and Blackberry Shine. Unfortunately I am not a graphic designer so my entire entry was two actual watercolor paintings. The template was provided so my paintings were on plain paper that has the template printed which consisted of the the cut out and the “Labello” font both of which I left white. The concept was Miss Blackberry Shine, keeping it cool and fresh, ready for a hot day chilling on the beach. Then comes Miss Strawberry Shine, ready for a night out on the town, enjoying the sunset.…

Degree Recycled
Although I am an artist, before I was able to fully realize my artist side I first followed the “safe” route. I qualified as an accountant. This involves a significant amount of dedication and studying. As a rough estimate I think 5 years, during this time I kept a box of all my dried out and ran out pens and highlighters. It was actually quite a lot over that period time. I took all these old dried out and useless pieces of plastic and converted them into lettering on this piece. The “DEGREE” section consists solely of all these pens and highlighters. The colorful outline above and below the letters…

I miss the ocean
My most recent series is called I miss the ocean. It consists off four images that I feel when I view the ocean. The ocean, to me, is beautiful but at the same time powerful and mysterious. The paintings have been completed during the Covid-19 lockdown. In South Africa we have had a very strict lockdown, the first six weeks we were not allowed to exercise or walk dogs outside of our homes. We were only allowed to go to the shop’s to get essential goods which were also severely restricted in terms of what we were allowed to purchase. My family enjoy going for a drive over Chapman’s Peak…

Happy New Decade Canvas
The start of a new decade is a very inspiring time. Happy New Year and Happy New Decade! This canvas consists of acrylic paint, oil pastels and aerosol and was an experimental piece to kick off the New Year. I enjoyed making it and tried to convey my enthusiasm and hopes for the new decade in this piece. At this specific time positivity was at an all time high, however little did we know a few short months into the future a world wide pandemic was about to break out and make a huge impact on all of our lives.

Zebra
This Zebra moved around with me partially completed through at least three house moves. The best part is that it is an A4 size, so it is easy to look after and keep in a sleeve. I kept it together with all the original pencils I used to create it. It consists of charcoal, chalk and pastel pencil. I eventually completed it in the middle of 2019 by which time it was about 5 years old and even now it remains behind glass in my personal collection.
